Since our official opening in 2015 we haven’t paused for breath for a moment. In an action packed 2016 we contracted with new clients for over 50% of our initially built space – that’s almost 2500kW of power and 625 square meters of space!

Clearly our proposition of low cost, high quality, green colocation is working well for our target markets and we are delighted at the local, national and international response.

EXPANSION

Now that we have established clear, consistent and predictable demand we have taken the decision to further expand available IT white space. By the end of January we will have 150 cabinet spaces for immediate availability, each delivering a massive 10kW of A+B power.

97% ENERGY TAX CUT

Further significant client cost reductions will come into play from January 1st 2017. The large data center energy tax reduction has passed into law, allowing operators to cut their client electricity bills by around 40%. Who doesn’t love a 97% tax cut? The only catch is that your colocation provider has to be using at least 500kW per site – Hydro66 does, and so all our clients win from January 1.

VATTENFALL ACQUIRE THE NODE POLE

In other highly significant news for the data centre industry Vattenfall, the state-owned energy generator, acquired The Node Pole – the regional data centre investment organisation. In practice the huge marketing fire power of Vattenfall is great news for Hydro66 and our clients as they get the 100% green ultra-low cost colocation message out to a much broader audience.

The team at Hydro66 were delighted to receive external validation in the form of the well-respected DCS award – Colocation & Hosting Provider of the Year 2016. Going up against Interxion and CenturyLink was not for the faint-hearted, but we were very confident our unique value proposition would catch the judging panels eye.
